Watchdog FAS said it was investigating why a new version of the Kaspersky Lab Kids Safe app had been dropped by Apple’s operating system, resulting in a significant loss of functionality for the parental control app.
He said Apple had released version 12 of its parental control program, Screen Time, which had functions similar to the Kaspersky program. Parental control applications allow parents to control the use of their children’s phone and tablet.
Asked about the Russian probe, Apple referred to Reuters in an April 28 statement in which it said it had recently removed some parental control apps from its App Store because they “endanger users’ privacy and security. ”
He said some of these apps were using a “highly invasive” technology called Mobile Device Management and that using it in a consumer-centric app was a violation of the App Store policy./Investing.com
