The indictment against BuzzFeed mayor Ken Lerer resigns

Ken Lerer, of BuzzFeed, the online news line, is leaving behind as chairman after a decade in the role, the company said on Tuesday.

Lerer, along with founder Jonah Peretti, has expanded the website‘s viral news coverage to a world-renowned media name over the last decade with blending serious news reports and pop culture.

Lerer, who also founded the Huffington Post, is leaving the role of focusing on his entrepreneurial fund Lerer Hippeau, a source familiar with this issue for Reuters.

The BuzzFeed Board had not yet decided whether to appoint a new chair.

The company has cut 15% of the workforce earlier this year, the source said, adding that the company was on track to become profitable in 2020./
