In funding for universities, Huawei spend more than $300 million a year

Huawei plans to spend more than $ 300m a year on research funds for universities, a senior company executive said on Tuesday, even as the Chinese firm fights a US trade ban since it has damaged its business and academia ties.

Huawei Technologies Co Ltd has been fighting a trade ban by Washington that has been hurting its business since May and may terminate its access to essential U.S. suppliers.

He also said the firm shipped more than 200,000 base telecommunications stations to markets worldwide, up from 150,000 in July.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States broke ties with Huawei earlier this year after US authorities began investigating the firm for alleged sanctions violations as Oxford University in Britain stopped receiving Huawei funding last year.investing
