Apple Display loses Chinese funds

The screen maker is tapping into a Harvest-led consortium of a $ 80 billion bailout deal that includes investments by Apple and Hong Kong-based activist investor Oasis Management.

Chinese investment firm Harvest Group will not provide any financial assistance to Apple Inc. Japan Display Inc. suppliers, Nikkei said Thursday, possibly disrupting restructuring plans for the money-backed LCD manufacturer.

Japan Display declined to comment on the report.

Harvest was expected to contribute 60 billion yen, Nikkei reported, citing sources familiar with the negotiations.

The Japanese company has repeatedly struggled to come up with a restructuring plan, and Harvest’s decision is likely to exacerbate the situation for the troubled firm./
